Would you like to keep bees in a non commercial system where honey bees can pollinate freely with no treatments and no feeding?
The Warré hive, or "eco-hive," is a vertical hive with small, uniform boxes that allow bees to build their comb naturally without the constraints of commercial frames. Developed by Abbé Warré in France, this hive mimics the shape of hollow trees and encourages bees to store honey above their clusters, just as they would in the wild. This design reduces the need for artificial feeding or invasive treatments and maintains the purity of the beeswax and honey. Tanguy’s approach ensures that bees rely on their own stores of honey through winter, aligning with natural processes and reducing unnecessary handling.
At Dunmore Country School, we aim to foster a deeper connection to the land, emphasizing healthy soil as the foundation of sustainable living. Through hands-on education in organic gardening, soil health, and regenerative practices, we empower individuals to steward the earth and embrace sustainability.

"He pulls apart a raised bed of greens to unearth a potato that formedlast summer but now is ready for a winter stew. Elsewhere, he unearths a celeriac, and inanother spot he pulls back the ground to reveal a blanched endive. He covers it again for safekeeping. It’s as if he is foraging in a wilderness of his own planting."
